Located on an island with no public services, this year-round retreat separates the functions of living, sleeping and bathing into three standalone compact, small structures. Nestled against the trees, the cabins are arranged in a fanning shape to capture the stunning views of the Straight of San Juan de Fuca and sunlight. An expansive deck connects the buildings, creating various outdoor seating areas, and provides access to grade at strategic points.
A pole-mounted PV array provides limited energy, and individual wood stoves heat the spaces. Stained western red cedar siding, grey metal roofs and custom Doug fir windows and doors help to blend the buildings into the surrounding landscape.
