            Lorenzo Creek Apartments provides 28 affordable 
              housing units for people with physical disabilities or HIV-AIDS 
              in Castro Valley. The design was developed with input from intensive 
              workshops with members of the disabled community and will provide 
              offices for support services, rooms for community activities, a 
              child's play area, and a large outdoor terrace for community gatherings. 
              The units are designed with outdoor circulation admit maximum daylight 
              and with large bathrooms to facilitate wheelchair access. A variety 
              of unit sizes from one-bedroom, one bath to three-bedroom, two bath 
              insures that the project will serve families of all sizes.  
            The building is designed to take advantage of 
              a long, narrow sloping site by using an ingenious split-level design 
              to maximize the building envelope. This also allows covered parking 
              to be provided beneath the outdoor terrace.
